Sub Metering
Why you should Sub-Meter
Understanding how you use your energy is the first step in managing your energy consumption. You can’t manage what hasn’t been measured and all-electric utilities have very specific pricing signals.
There is often a tremendous opportunity to reduce your energy costs by understanding your utility’s energy rate options. Each utility has a unique energy load profile and often provide significant price reductions if a company can either shift or shutdown unnecessary energy loads.
Temporarily or permanently sub-metering inside a facility provides the necessary information to understand how and where your energy dollars are being consumed. Energy costs can be calculated for any given production area or any selected piece of equipment.
Metering allows for comparisons between similar machines and can provide a justification for updating older machinery with newer energy-efficient models. Metering will also expose any power quality issues such as voltage dips and spikes.
Metering before and after a major upgrade such as a new chiller, air compressor, HVAC unit, etc. can also provide proof that the upgrade is saving money and that the expected savings will actually be realized.
Our temporary meters gather energy usage information over a period of weeks which provide insight into the energy consumed by a particular area of the facility or piece of equipment.
Our permanent meters allow the power consumption information to be accessed over the Internet from anywhere, allowing corporate headquarters to compare data from multiple sites and also provide trending data in convenient chart forms.
Our meters are compact and usually allow for installation inside the electrical distribution equipment, away from personnel access and damage.
