Understanding the Climate Crisis
In a world increasingly concerned with its carbon footprint, accurate information is key. As outlined by the GHG Protocol FAQ, “Because climate change is a complex and global problem, decisions about how to reduce emissions need to be based on facts rather than assumptions.”
The Scopes of Emission
The GHG Protocol Corporate Standard provides a clear, tiered system to classify a company’s GHG emissions:
- Scope 1: Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources within a facility.
- Scope 2: Indirect emissions resulting from purchased energy utilities.
- Scope 3: Other indirect emissions occurring in the company’s value chain, encompassing both upstream and downstream processes, such as suppliers.
Notably, the European Union has embraced the GHG Protocol Standards, and adoption by the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) is imminent. This widespread adoption makes it crucial for companies, big and small, to align with these standards. Major global corporations have already begun reporting emissions from their direct operations (Scopes 1 and 2). These new standards emphasize the importance of a collaborative effort involving suppliers and other value chain partners in GHG management and sustainability.
Navigating the Complexity
Tier 2 and smaller enterprises face unique challenges. Many lack clarity about these requirements and don’t possess the resources, time, or knowledge to meet them. Yet, non-compliance could result in a loss of significant clientele. The frustrations are palpable, and we’re here to bridge the gap. It’s essential for such companies to identify experts like us for guidance.
Verifiable Results (VR) has a proven track record. Our speciality lies in Energy Cost/Reduction Savings and Electrical Safety Compliance. We recently assisted an industrial manufacturer in uncovering over 40% in energy savings, which delivered instant ROI.
Our Expertise
Our Carbon Footprint (GHG) energy audit:
- Adheres to the GHG Protocol Scopes 1 & 2.
- Aligns with the Science-Based Target initiative (SBTi).
- Ensures all endeavors align with the 1.5°C Paris Agreement.
- Prioritizes energy improvement suggestions, considering equipment age and potential productivity enhancements.
Additionally:
- We ascertain the feasibility of adopting solar energy.
- For companies keen on understanding their progress, we calculate the GHG reductions they have achieved.
- We evaluate the advantages of installing a cogeneration system.
- We can introduce sub-metering at various points, including the utility feed, which provides a clear energy usage snapshot. This data, depicted via an intuitive pie chart, shows energy use and expenditure based on metered points. Subsequent energy enhancements can be measured against these benchmarks, confirming GHG reductions.
- For specific needs, we also offer an in-depth compressed air system analysis.
- We also provide an energy dashboard that displays all the necessary sustainability information at your fingerprints.
- Let’s Work Together
To combat the challenges posed by climate change and to adhere to global protocols, let our expertise guide you. We’re here to help navigate the intricacies, ensure your operations are sustainable, and future-proof your business in a rapidly changing world.
